Riding a pony to the temple

Yamnotri is the first dham we visit in the chardham circuit. It is a six Km hike to the temple from Janki Chatti. We decided to ride ponies. The 12 km ride to and fro convinced me that I could ride a Pony to Kedarnath (which is a 14km ride). The chardham is about the rivers that form Ganga. Yamuna meets Ganga at Allahabad, much after Ganga has assumed her own identity at Devaprayag. In this way Yamnotri is different from the other three dhams whose rivers merge before Ganga gets her official name.

Doing Pooja at Yamnotri

At the temple priests will do pooja for you. The priests pray for your family, career, ancestors, and ask all the things you forgot to ask from God. At the end of it all you feel quite blessed.

The priest who conducted prayers for me, my family, and everything that mattered to me at Yamnotri.

I brought the Rice cooked at Surya kund at Yamnotri all the way back home.
